Ruth Daniel is a multi-award-winning musician, CEO, and Artistic Director of the international NGO In Place of War. Drawing on decades of experience as a record-label founder, event co-producer (co-founder of Un-Convention), and musician - including performing with the cult Manchester band The Fall - she leverages music as a potent force for social transformation. Ruth leads initiatives in areas affected by armed conflict, social injustice, and climate crisis, fostering collaborations from jazz artists in Soweto and UK electronic innovators (Coldcut), to Arctic Indigenous musicians and BICEP. Under her leadership, In Place of War has grown from a University of Manchester research project into a global network empowering grassroots music leaders through infrastructure, training, and creative partnerships (shesaid.so). With a unique blend of industry insight, creative leadership, and activist drive, Ruth continues to transform communities through the power of music and cultural justice.
